The volunteers of KNC organize more than two dozen activities all year round. Browse these lists; you're sure to find something to enjoy!

For the outdoorsy type

Golf - Men's 18-Hole

This group plays regular full rounds on Wednesdays and Fridays from the end of March through October. You can play twice a week, or just once a year — whatever you wish. Just come out and enjoy a fine walk and great company — spoiled, of course, only by the golf! An activity for both KNC members and alumni (KNA), we rotate among four local golf courses: Kelowna Springs, Sunset Ranch, Shannon Lake and Shadow Ridge.

Golf - Ladies 9-Hole

The Ladies 9-Hole Golf group plays Thursday mornings from early May to mid-October, alternating between Kelowna Springs and Michaelbrook Golf Courses. This is a relaxed, non-competitive activity. We welcome golfers of all skill levels, but some experience is required and a basic knowledge of golfing etiquette is expected.

Golf - Mixed 9-Hole

The Mixed 9-Hole Golf group meets at Kelowna Springs Golf Course very early Tuesday mornings from April until the end of the golf season in October. We usually play the back-9, then reward ourselves with a scrumptious breakfast in the clubhouse. This fun, non-competitive activity for golfers of all skill levels is open to KNC members.

We're all new to the area and face a variety of unfamiliar gardening challenges. What plants do well in this arrid climate, coupled with frosty winters? How do we deal with deer and other critters destroying our gardens? Join our Gardening Group to learn and share experiences, frustrations and triumphs!

Dragon Boating

Are you interested in a new sport? Try dragon boating! In partnership with the Kelowna Dragon Boat Club (KDBC), membership is open to all KNC and alumni members. The season runs May through August,  paddling once a week.  KDBC provides the boat, life jackets & paddles to 1st year paddlers, plus a coach and steer for each team. Meet at 4:30 by the Kelowna Yacht Club, warm up then paddle for an hour on  beautiful Lake Okanagan. We follow our paddle experience at a nearby pub.  Fees are $100, as decided by KDBC.  If you are looking for exercise and a social outing, please join us!

Grab your walking shoes and join us Thursday mornings, all year round, for an easy to moderate 1hr to 1.5hr walk in one of 50 scenic locations ranging from Peachland in the southwest to Lake Country in the northeast.  This group offers fresh air, friendship, and a fine way to get to know your new community.

If you've ever wanted to strap on a pair of snowshoes and stomp through forests and fields, this group is for you! We welcome all snowshoe enthusiasts, no matter your skill level.

Whether you want to go fast and long or slow and steady there is a group for you. Each time we meet we decide on the path and how far to trek. We break into two groups to cater to your comfort level.

Come out and enjoy the beautiful landscape Mother Nature is bestowing on us during the season!

Our Hiking  coordinators plan 'taking a hike' every 2nd Friday morning, weather permitting.   The level of effort will vary from hike to hike as will the length of the hike.  Hiking is a great way to stay in shape and enjoy our beautiful surroundings.

Hockey night

Many newcomers quickly develop into rabid fans of the Kelowna Rockets major junior hockey team.

Join fellow hockey enthusiasts at Prospera Place in downtown Kelowna.

For Kelowna newcomers who are single and looking to meet others like them, our ever-popular KNC Solos group is for you.  Our goal is to develop lasting friendships, and to share with those friends the many activities that Kelowna has to offer. While every KNC member is welcomed at all KNC events and activities,  some prefer to attend with other solo members. The Solos group facilitates networking and friendship-building that helps that happen.

Five-Pin Bowling

This fun league, which has been running for more than 30 years, is for all skill levels. No experience is required; in fact, it's best if you forget how you once played!

The group plays between September and April, and members can join as a regular team member or a spare.  Each year new teams are developed  to ensure a good mix of skill levels.    There's plenty of socializing and laughter (mostly about bowling!). There's a lunch once a month, as well as a year-end banquet.

Ladies Book Club

Do you like to discuss books with fellow reading enthusiasts? Join the Afternoon Book Club as they meet at 1:00pm every third Monday of each month (except on holidays) from September to June.   The group begins by discussing its chosen book, followed by socializing and light refreshments. Members take turns hosting at their homes. When weather permits, meetings can be held outdoor a city parks.

Book Club for All

For the curious mind

Arts and Culture

Kelowna and towns in the surrounding area have so many museums, theatres, art shows and other cultural activities to offer. Sign up with this group to participate in these activities with other like-minded newcomers.

Each month we try to visit a local artist or cultural event. We have seen plays and visited the studios of sculptors and other visual artists working with acrylic, water colours, wood, fibre, stone and other innovative media.

Tour Kelowna

Come and discover some of the hidden gems of the Central Okanagan.  We regularly organize a tour of an area business or tourist attraction. In the past, we have visited sites as diverse as Campion Boats, Global News Okanagan, the Gorman Brothers Lumber Mill, the Okanagan Observatory, the Okanagan Military Museum and the Okanagan Wine & Orchard Museum. We've also enjoyed educational and informative walking tours of the historic downtown area.

KNC shutterbugs meet regularly  to discuss the art of photography and to go on group shoots. Although photography is a solo hobby, our group is about sharing tips and constructive feedback as we visit art and photo exhibits and invite experts to help us hone our skills. Whether you use a phone camera, a compact digital or a professional DSLR, everyone is welcome!

Out on the town

Men's Coffee

The men of the KNC meet Tuesday mornings at a local cafĂ©  for a casual drop-in affair. Coffee, a variety of breakfast treats and good camaraderie are on the menu.

Ladies Lunch

We meet on the second Wednesday of every month. While we discover a different restaurant, we engage in friendly conversation over delicious food.   It is a great way to meet new friends and try out some of Kelowna's wonderful dining venues.

Dining Out

Once a month this group heads out to dine together at a local restaurant. We strive to select a variety of establishments, to accommodate different styles, tastes and food preferences. It’s a great way to meet new friends and discover the high-quality restaurants in Kelowna and surrounding areas.

Wine Tasting

The Wine Tasting group meets to explore wines from the Okanagan and around the world. Various formats have been taken place, from visiting wineries, and meeting at members' homes, to enjoying tastings led by certified wine connoisseurs.

Pub Night Kelowna

KNC members who enjoy pub atmosphere, food and drink, gather weekly at a local establishment for sustenance in the form of fare and friendship. It’s a great opportunity to keep in touch with others new to Kelowna and make new friends.

Westside Pub Night

Beer Tasting

This activity is aimed at people interested in exploring the many flavours of beer from the Okanagan and elsewhere. Members meet at a variety of establishments and occasionally in the home of a KNC member.

Gathering together

Ladies Coffee

KNC Ladies Coffee is a wonderful way to meet new friends in a very relaxing
atmosphere. Events are held twice a month on the 1st and 3rd Monday of each month, excluding holidays, from 10 am to noon.

Here’s how it works:
Upon arrival the coordinators will be
there to greet you and direct you to the
room where tables have been set up
for our group. Be sure to place your order for a beverage or snack on your way in.

At 11am we ask that you switch tables to meet a few more new faces.
Registration is open until the Friday prior to the event. If you are unable to attend, please cancel on the KNC website.

We look forward to welcoming you to our group!

Ladies Potluck Lunch

This is a fun and social group that meets for potluck luncheons at the home of a KNC member. Members sign up to bring an appetizer, a main dish, salad or dessert. We mingle over appetizers, then sit and enjoy a lively lunch together, potluck style. We switch seating for dessert to maximize the opportunity to converse with new friends.

Dining In

The KNC is a great way to meet other members in the Club.   Members of the group take turns hosting 4 to 6 people (including hosts) in their homes for dinner.  Hosts are responsible for the main course with guests contributing other parts of the meal.    No special cooking skills are required - it is just a fun evening with new friends.

Wine-ing In

Members take turns hosting up to six other people in their home for wine tasting and appetizers. Each couple or individual brings a bottle of wine and an appetizer to share with the group. Each month a theme will be presented for the group to tailor their food and wine choices. Participants must be willing to take their turn to host. This activity has a cocktail party vibe, casual and relaxed where members can chat and mingle to get to know one another.

Social Forum

KNC offers an online 'bulletin board' to enable members to reach out to others to arrange activities and outings beyond the KNC sponsored activities. Members have organized ski outings, cycling adventures, golf foursomes and more. Find it all at the Social Forum
