We are excited to continue our Thursday morning walking schedule. Please consider joining us for Thursday's walk along the newly reopened Mission Creek Upper Trail.

If you're new to this activity, you'll learn that we "take a walk" every Thursday morning year-round (COVID and weather-permitting), except for a couple of weeks before and after Christmas.
Our 1 to 1 & 1/2 hour walks generally depart at 9:00 a.m. from a variety of attractive locations - from Lake Country in the north to Peachland in the south. Please review each walk's details, as the level of effort varies from week to week.
Registration reminder: We've turned 'on' the registration button to help us collect contact information, to comply with COVID19 follow-ups, if necessary. Registration is solely for the purpose of creating an attendance list with contact detail. If you register but find yourself unable to attend, please cancel your registration through your KNC calendar.

MISSION CREEK UPPER TRAIL
Mission Creek Upper Trail has now been completed and reopened, after being closed for trail renovation for quite some time. This is a 3.2 km out and back trail, with 138m of elevation gain. The trail begins from the Field Road parking lot and continues into Mission Creek along a wide, descending switchback trail, to the bridge crossing at KLO Creek before it joins Mission Creek, where we join the newly renovated Upper Trail with great views of Layercake Mountain. There are some steep sections, so please bring along your walking poles if you need them, along with good hiking shoes.
Directions: (from Orchard Park Mall)

Turn onto Cooper Rd for 750 m

Turn right onto Benvoulin Rd for 1.8 km

Turn left onto K. L. O. Rd for 2.6 km

Turn right onto McCulloch Rd for 1.7 km

Turn right to stay on McCulloch Rd for another 4.1 km

Turn left onto Field Rd for 600 m, then drive through the open gate into the Scenic Canyon Regional Park Parking Lot at 3965 Field Rd, Kelowna, BC V1W 3Z8

Difficulty: EASY
This out and back gravel and dirt trail is well-defined throughout, however care must be taken through some areas with rocks and roots and some steeper climbs. Walking poles may be advisable for those wishing additional balance.

Coffee and Snacks: Due to Covid19, we will not be gathering at a coffee shop / restaurant after our walk. For those who wish gather for a social chat after the walk, weather permitting, please bring your travel hot beverage mug, snacks and a camp chair and we’ll set up at the trailhead.
