Welcome
KNC HIKING Group!
Please consider joining us for our Friday May 20, 2022 hike.
We "take a hike" every other Friday morning (COVID and weather-permitting). To review our hiking rules, please click here: Hiking Group Rules and Guidelines.pdf. Please note that attendance is limited to 12 hikers - please register early to ensure a spot. The waitlist is enabled, so if you register, but cannot attend, please cancel your registration (by logging into your KNC profile), so the next person on the waitlist can be registered.
Our approx. 3 or more hour hikes will generally depart at 9:00 a.m. from a variety of locations - from Lake Country in the north to Peachland in the south, and sometimes farther afield. Please review each hike's details, as the level of effort will vary from hike to hike, and may increase in effort as the weeks proceed.
Registration reminder: We've turned 'on' the registration button to help us collect contact information, to comply with COVID19 follow-ups, if necessary. Registration is solely for the purpose of creating an attendance list with contact detail.

Hayman Lake Loop Trail, West Kelowna

This 15 km trail is considered a moderately challenging trail which takes approximately 5.0 hours and has a 769 metre gain. This trail is a mix of Forest Service Roads and narrow bicycle trails. A few wet spots may be encountered. After a long sustained climb up a ridge, with occasional zigzags beside McDougal Creek and Hidden Creek, the trail reaches the rim of Lambly Creek valley with some extensive views and abundant wildflowers. From there it follows the valley rim, bypassing Mount Hayman to a good viewpoint and lunch spot. Turning south, it follows the eastern escarpment of Hayman and offers an array of good views eastwards over Rose Valley. The loop is best done in a clockwise direction for the extensive views on the descent.
It is highly recommended to have good hiking boots and poles. Also there will be a stop for lunch so bring food and also plenty of water. It is important to stay hydrated on these longer challenging hikes.
Your hike leaders will be at trailhead at 8:45 a.m. to meet our hikers, and begin the hike promptly at 9:00 a.m. We will also, prior to leaving the parking lot, have a short discussion of hike expectations and we welcome all comments and suggestions.
