HIKING Group!
Please consider joining us for our Friday October 14, 2022 hike into Okanagan Mountain Park, along the Wildhorse Canyon and Wildhorse North Canyon Loop trails.
We "take a hike" every other Friday morning (weather-permitting). To review our hiking rules, please click here: Hiking Group Rules and Guidelines.pdf. Please note that attendance is limited to 12 hikers - please register early to ensure a spot. The waitlist is enabled so, if you register but cannot attend, please cancel your registration (by logging into your KNC profile), allowing the next person on the waitlist to be registered.
Our approx. 3 or more hour hikes will generally depart at 9:00 a.m. from a variety of locations - from Lake Country in the north to Peachland in the south, and sometimes farther afield. Please review each hike's details, as the level of effort will vary from hike to hike, and may increase as the weeks proceed.
Okanagan Mountain Park - Wildhorse Canyon
We will head out on this 9.7 km 449 m elevation gain trail from the main Okanagan Mountain Park parking lot onto on the Wild Horse Canyon trail. The elevation gain occurs in the first 1/3 of the hike - poles and good hiking shoes/boots will be helpful.
Wildhorse Canyon and Wildhorse Canyon North Loop is a lovely and scenic hike. The trail itself has some checkpoints to keep us on track and a pit toilet and map at the beginning. There is a parking lot available, right off Lakeshore Drive, with enough spots for our vehicles (we may need to squeeze together). The trail offers beautiful views of the lake and the city.
